Advantages and Disadvantages of Overhead Crane
Overhead cranes also have their own advantages and disadvantages.
An overhead crane is a kind of lifting equipment installed across the upper space of workshops, warehouses and stock yards for material handling, which helps workshops complete work efficiently. Therefore, overhead cranes can be commonly seen in workshops of various manufacturers. Despite its wide application and excellent performance, the overhead crane still has both strengths and weaknesses. Below we analyze the advantages and disadvantages of overhead cranes together.
The overhead crane is erected across the top of workshops, warehouses and material yards for cargo lifting and transportation. Its two ends are mounted on tall concrete pillars or metal supports, featuring a bridge-like structure. The crane bridge travels longitudinally along rails laid on elevated supports on both sides. It makes full use of the space under the bridge to lift and transport materials without being restricted by ground equipment. It is one of the most widely used and largest-in-quantity types of lifting machinery.
